"George Lopez" interview 2020 PART 2 Part 2 of a sit down interview with George Lopez at his home. His ABC sitcom, George Lopez, aired for six seasons in primetime, followed by more years in syndicated reruns on Nick at Nite before the streaming era. Then he brought late-night talk to TBS with two seasons of Lopez Tonight before the Team Coco era. And in the past decade, he has starred in sitcoms for FX (Saint George), TV Land (Lopez) and BET (The Comedy Get Down, a mockumentary based on the stand-up tour he went on with Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and the late Charlie Murphy). He also has five previous stand-up specials under his belt, starting with Why You Crying? on Showtime in 2004, followed by four on HBO (all available on HBO Max): America’s Mexican in 2007, Tall, Dark and Chicano in 2009, It’s Not Me, It’s You in 2012, and The Wall: Live From Washington, D.C., in 2017. It’s weird seeing Lopez take the stage without the sounds of the 1975 War song, “Low Rider,” but everything else in 2020 is weird, so why not this, too? Then again, this performance feels like a re-introduction to Lopez. Aided by him actually introducing himself once more to the audience, saying: “My name is George Lopez. I have one kidney that’s not mine. And dementia runs in my family, so I didn’t come here to f— around, San Francisco!”
