A little weekend getaway in a remote vacation home supposedly is a very therapeutic idea for marriages on the rocks. Outdoors spending time alone that can rekindle many relationships. Unless a masked outsider enters the picture and forces the couple to obey every whim and order. Jill Awbrey and Bart Johnson star in the suspenseful thriller Held, from the directing duo of Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff. In Held, Emma’s (Jill Awbrey) and Henry’s (Bart Johnson) marriage is losing its spark. In an effort to reconnect, they vacation to a remote high-end rental, complete with automated smart house features and integrated security. However, after suspecting a nighttime intruder, they decide to flee, only to become forcibly trapped inside by the automated security system. Emitting from the house, an unknown ‘Voice’ watches their every move through an array of hidden cameras, revealing an intimate and unsettling knowledge of their relationship. While the situation grows increasingly brutal, Emma and Henry must work together to uncover the truth and find a way out before it’s too late. Jill Awbrey also wrote the script for Held. We talked about the chance meetings with the directors, Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, that lead to the movie. Also, we talked about the chemistry relationship of a couple with a marriage on the rocks. Jill Awbrey makes her writing and acting debut with Held as the lead role of Emma Barrett. Prior to this film, she wrote, directed, and starred in two short films with Abbey Undone and All We Have Left. Bart Johnson has been seen in many television series and movies, including Amazon TV series Gortimer Gibbons, Life on Normal Street, Lifetime’s The Client List, and the modern adaptation of the classic novel Little Women. His best-known role is Zac Efron’s father and basketball coach in Disney’s High School Musical movies. He was a series regular on the WB drama Hyperion Bay from creator Joseph Dougherty. Other appearances in film and TV included NCIS, Hot In Cleveland, Las Vegas, Small Town Crime, The Christmas Spirit, and The Cell 2. Held is playing in theaters today and available On Demand.
